About Tessa
Tessa Lovatt is a British author who’s been sharing stories online since 2011. Her world has revolved around books for as long as she can remember; as a child, she used to set her alarm clock to go off early so she could sneak on the family computer and churn out chapters before school, then stay up late reading under the covers at night!
Thousands of readers follow Tessa. Her books have topped the charts on social storytelling sites and accumulated over 30 million reads in total. She mostly writes new adult romance, often with a large dose of steam, and has also been commissioned to create content for global brands.
In 2023, Tessa joined Ream to launch her first subscription site and then expanded to Inkitt in 2025. Through a monthly membership, readers can enjoy exclusive books, bonus chapters, and early access to ongoing stories.
When she’s not writing, Tessa loves walking in the countryside with her camera, husband, and sassy greyhound.
A peek at my passions beyond the screen...

Greyhounds
I’m a huge greyhound lover. We adopted our rescue greyhound when she was one, and she’s the most affectionate and gentle dog. There’s a misconception that greyhounds need a lot of exercise, but in reality they’re all speed and no stamina.

Languages
As a reader and writer, I’ve always been interested in words and language. At university, I studied French, Spanish, and Italian. This led to me spending a year in Italy as part of my course. I’m not joking when I say my diet consisted mainly of pizza and pasta… But in my defence, I lived next door to a pizzeria, and you have to support local businesses, right?

Ice hockey
On my first trip to the US back in 2022, I watched the Washington Capitals play the Toronto Maple Leafs. Before that, I knew very little about hockey, but I was instantly obsessed. The speed, the physicality, the lights / music / theatrics… The excitement of it all blew me away.

Photography
Besides writing, my other hobby is photography. It’s very much just a hobby, mostly self-taught, although I did once come 4th in my company’s annual photography contest! Architecture and landscapes are my favourite subjects. Recently I’ve been trying to capture images of the Northern Lights too, which we occasionally see in the UK.

Travel
I’ve been fortunate to visit over 20 countries and 4 continents, through holidays and work travel. It’s impossible to pick a favourite, but Mauritius will forever be special as that’s where I spent my honeymoon.

Animals
Animals have always been a big part of my life. I grew up with dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and horses. After leaving school, I spent a month in Costa Rica where I volunteered at a turtle refuge. Work varied from 3am patrols to protect nests from predators and poachers, to beach clean-ups during the day, to ensuring the hatchlings reach the ocean at night.
